Trimper’s is among the oldest and most visited amusement parks in the area. Although it is not the oldest it has been with the same family for generations to come.

It all began in 1890 when Daniel and Margaret came to Ocean City. Within the span of three years, they became owners of two hotels and considerable property through their hard work and enterprising spirit. After a severe storm in 1900, the place was renovated extensively with the place remodelled along the lines of Windsor Castle. The entire complex became famous as Windsor Resort. A significant event in the history of Trimper’s was in 1912, when a giant carousel was purchased and installed on the property. The massive wheel was steam powered and featured three chariots, a rocking chair and forty-five animals. It is still going strong a century later and is one of the oldest carousels in operation in the US.

Through its long and eventful existence, there have been numerous additions to the amusement park including a kid’s Ferris wheel and a smaller carousel.  It was in the 1950s that the management decided to include outdoor rides. Since then there has been a new addition almost every year that has made it one of the most exciting amusement parks in Ocean City. The most significant addition in recent times was the Tidal Wave a roller coaster that still is one of the major attractions of the amusement park. It offers visitors a thrilling experience of riding a double loop roller coaster.

There are more than 35 rides in the amusement park which include favourites like the Himalaya and the Rock & Roll Matterhorn. For younger kids, there are plenty of smaller rides like the Balloon Ride which they can ride with their parents. For those fond of games, there are plenty of options as well with stuffed prizes for those who emerge victorious in games like Whack-A-Mole and Frog Bog.  There also are plenty of shopping options, a bar and a restaurant in the area.

The descendants of the Trimper Family have played vital roles in the management of Trimper’s all through the years. When in Ocean City a visit to Trimper’s Rides and Amusement Park is a must!
