Creating the best website for your business

It is vitally important for any business who wants to be successful in this modern-era to have a website which works well.  People are constantly accessing information online from their computers and their smart phones and if you want to be both visible to your target audience and to capture their attention and hold it, then you need a website which can meet ever increasing demands.

Of course it is all very well and good to know that you need to create a great website for your business but knowing what that actually means, and what you should look out for when engaging the services of a design company is another ball game altogether.  Luckily, we have some handy hints to get you started:-

Know Your Audience

It is important that you have a clear understanding of who your target audience are before you start the web design process.  This is one of the key things you will need to communicate to your chosen design company and for them to work with.  Functionality is also vital but if your website doesn’t capture the attention of potential customers or clients then you will never get past the starting block.

Know Your Aim

What is the purpose behind the creation of your website?  Is it to sell a product or service, for example, or it is to educate people by providing them with information?  To ensure that your website will meet the demands of your target audience you need to have a clear idea of how exactly you want them to engage with your site when they land there.  This will then lead into other, important matters, such as how responsive your site is and the functions it needs to have.  Whether you are a business selling clothing or a hotel, you need to have a website that is responsive and functional and how your site looks compared to others will vary depending on what exactly you are trying to achieve.

Keep it Clear

Recent research suggests that over 50% of users will spend less than 15 seconds on a website before they decide whether they want to remain there.  That means you have just 15 seconds to capture the attention of your target audience and convince them that yours is the business they want.  Information should be clear and easy to access; your website should be responsive and should work well.  Anything less than this and you could be losing huge numbers of potential clients.  People want to be able to do things quickly and efficiently and so you have to create a website which offers them the chance to do that, an example of this is having a hotel responsive web design which makes it easy for guests to book accommodation whether they are sitting at their laptops or using their smart phone whilst they are out and about.

Update and Test

Once you have your website, make sure that you keep it regularly updated and that you test it fully.  Anything which jumps out as being problematic or unclear should be dealt with as soon as possible; you just don’t know how many potential guests or customers you are losing out on because of one seemingly small issue.
