Top Events in Hammersmith and Fulham

As a vibrant part of West Londonit’s no surprise that both Hammersmith and Fulham have a number of exciting and interesting events which take place throughout the year.  From the full programme of live music being held at the Apollo Hammersmith to special events being hosted at nearby attractions, there is plenty to look forward to if you are going to be spending any time in the area in the near future.

Magical Lantern Festival London

Just over 2 miles from the LUMA CONCEPT HOTEL Hammersmith you will find Chiswick House; a beautiful neo-Palladian villa which is set amongst some stunning gardens.  It is these gardens which this year are home to the Magical Lantern Festival.  Now in its 2nd year, the festival is held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year and this year’s theme is ‘Explore theSilk Road’.  Life-sized and giant lanterns and lantern scenes which represent this international trade route will be situated around the gardens and visitors will have the opportunity to see lanterns representing various cultures from Europe toPersia, Ancient China toArabia.  There will also be other attractions including an ice rink, mini funfair and virtual reality gaming experiences.  The Magical Lantern Festival is held in Chiswick House and Gardens until the end of February 2017.

Absolute Bowie

Both Hammersmith and Fulham, and the surrounding areas, are well known for their live music venues and whatever your taste or budget, you are very likely to be able to find something to suit.  Fans of the music legend, David Bowie, might enjoy this live music gig which is taking place during May at the Half Moon Putney; Absolute Bowie are a five piece tribute band who have toured all over the UK and bring the life and music of David Bowie to life, covering many decades of music.

Comedy

If you enjoy comedy then you will be pleased to know that there is never a shortage of options for those coming to Londonand staying in one of the West London Hotels.  The Hammersmith Apollo is a world-renowned venue and plays hosts to a number of international comedians throughout the year.  Names such as Russell Kane, Rob Beckett, Jimmy Carr, and Jon Richardson will all take to the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo during 2017 and it is well worth making sure you book tickets as soon as possible if you want to enjoy a comedy show at one of the best known locations in London.

Puddle Jumping Championships

There is always something fun and exciting happening at the WWT London Wetland Centre and this February is no different.  The Puddle Jumping Championships take place during February half term and all children are invited to grab their wellies and enjoy splashing around in puddles.  It is free to join in with paid admission to the Centre and there are plenty of other things to see and do once you and your children have puddle-jumped to your heart’s content.  If you can’t make it to London during February then don’t worry; the WWT London Wetland Centre hosts family-friendly events every month throughout the year.
